Parties, hang-outs, meet-ups oh my!

Today’s topic is online meetings.

Online meetings have changed dramatically in recent years. It used to be that you had to pay a huge monthly fee inorder to host online meetings…like go to meeting.com. Now I know the functionality is huge in go to meeting but you can get similar results using vyew.com. It’s free and is pretty awesome.

But you are apart of the social media revolition and you know there is more you can do. How about parties and hang-outs?

A twitter party consists of you going online at a specific time and having a meeting with those followers who chose to participate. In having a party you are using mentions and hashtags. This will help build your social media audience.

Hang-outs are good too. They are on google+. Use them and ask specific circles to participate. You can get in a chat room type setting or use the full webcam version. Talk about new ways you can use!

Also, we have a newer player in the game. A locations based application called meetup.com. This application allows you to schedule a meet-up at a specific location (could be virtual I guess). People say if they will attend or not.

Go ahead and try these techniques. See how they work for you. Good luck and happy coding.

Google+ is dead?! Already?!

image

I am still getting adjusted to google plus. It really has huge potential…many because of the huge google user base it has to start with.  Many people don’t like it. Many people don’t understand it. And most importantly many people don’t even use it.

But lets pretend that you have built a sizable social audience on google+. What do you do with it? Well, lets talk about a couple of features.

1. Circles – this is how you organize the people who see your message.  Let say you post “bobby sue is at home sick today” well you wouldnt want all your prospects to see that. They really don’t care. Just like your extended family doesn’t really care that you post “50% off your next training seminar” (unless its your spouse and you are breaking the bank with that offer). Circles allows you to divide all your contacts into usable groups to send targeted messages to.  I do business with hair stylists and insurance agents (any many others)…with circles I can create messages for each group.

2. Hang-outs, huddles, messenger- These have changed somewhat over the past couple months and use really depends upon what platform you are using. Are you using your desktop, the mobile version or the app. All are different. Here is the idea with hangouts. Let’s say you offer different color schemes for mobile websites, like I do. I might have a “hangout” use my webcam and invite my circle prospects to join the hangout and discuss what the next big color scheme will be. Connecting with your social audience is extremely easy with this meathod and allows you to do so much more then other forms of social media.

Thats my first take on google+. I do like it. I think it could be valuable to your business. You will have to look hard at weather it could work for you.

Thanks for reading and be sure to diagnose your businesses social media presence.

Marketing oops!

You see codes being used in marketing for these big companies… Kohl’s or Macy’s comes to mind. While I am glad they are using code technology, most of the big shot companies are doing it all wrong. Scan one of those codes and see what happens… It normally takes you to a busy, none mobile, website that really doesn’t capture any information from the customer.

Here is what is missing and why the little guy can use code technology more effectively then those dinosaurs… Instant capture and long term marketing. The little guy has to capture new potential clients/customers into their already established social media marketing, be it facebook, twitter, google+, etc. (if you don’t have at least one of those, get one or all).

If only we had an easy way to get potential customers/clients to our social media marketing… But we do! Use a simple mobile site that I create for you that connects customers/clients to all your favorite social media marketing sites. Couple that with code technology you have a recipe for huge growth.

Send me an email info@code-marketing.com and we can get started building your business with mobile sites and code technology.

Hair stylists have Fun with foursquare

image

Foursquare is a great social networking site to be used by businesses. Many people don’t think about using foursquare to build their business. Here are a couple of things to consider while using foursquare to build your business:

1. Use the deals. Offer a discount for peoples first check-in. Make certain that when they do check-in that they share it with facebook or twitter or both. Then give them a discount.

2. Tips arent just for the server. Make sure to add a tip and photos. People look at that stuff. It builds credibility and shows activity. People want to see that others are involved with you.

3. To do. Add a to do item. Make it something unique like, bring a friend and get feathered. People will “do” the to do because its there.

4. Crowded in here? Add a new location just for you like “Hot hair salon – Susan” and let the other stylists in your salon do the same… “Hot hair salon – Jill”. Doing this gives each stylist’s clientele to market specifically for that stylist. Remember when they share it the location will be “Hot hair salon – Susan!

5. Lastly. Coupling foursquare with your mobile site and sending them directly to your foursquare location is hugely benificial and highly effective at building your business.

Let’s get started.

I can’t believe I didnt think of it sooner!

image

I’ve been sitting on this idea for a couple of days now. I’m still a little bit shocked I didnt think of this before, but then again, we are all still getting used to the idea of social media marketing being so close to our customers daily life (and mobile phone)… So here are a couple of tid bits…

When you get a mobile site through us select the usual buttons… Facebook, twitter, a link to your salon for reviews, maybe a google map so they can navigate, and definately a call button so th ey can instantly get a hold of you…those are basics. Ones we think about all the time… Think of these couple of jewels…

Be sure to add a foursquare button. This is hugely popular right now. A person will “check-in” using foursquare and all of their friends on foursquare will see where they checked in. also most people choose to share where they checked in on facebook. So all their friends see… “hey, susan is getting her hair cut by Laura. I need to schedule an appointment with her. Susan’s hair is always so beautiful.” And you say “l’m off to the bank”.

Another nifty little page would be pinterest. I am still a little unfamiliar with this but I know you can pin pictures (maybe before and after photos or just some of your best work). You can totally customize pinterest to exactly who and what you are…and more importantly you customers can have instant access to it all through your mobile site.

HOW DO THEY GET TO YOUR MOBILE SITE?

They scan your code while they are sitting in your chair. You mihht have a sticker of your code on your mirror or on an ad in the local paper or a business card

5 ways hairstylists can use code marketing

code marketing can be modified for almost any industry. Her are some ways hair stylists can use code marketing.

1 – Appointment booking. Have a button on your mobile site that points to your online booking service (hopefully it is a mobile booking service). Use your code and make magnet business cards. Give the magnetic business cards to all your clients. When your clients need to re-schedule an appointment, they can scan your code and re-schedule.

2 – Online reviews. Have a code on your mirror. Have a link on your mobile site to your salons profile in google places. Direct all your clients to review your services online. The better your reviews the more visable you are one the internet.

3 – facebook befriending. It is very simple to have your clients scan your code and go to your facebook profile. Of course since it is with their mobile device then their facebook mobile app will take over and they can easily befriend you.

4 – navigation. Attach a google map link to your mobile site. New clients can click on your map link. Again their mobile device will take over and your clients can then navigate easily to your salon. Very convenient.

5 – Call… Operators are standing by. With mobile site functionality a link can be placed that will activate your clients phone and they will call you directly.

All these activities will most definitely increase your clientele.

The newest marketing tool

this is the newest combination of the current consumer practices…accessing the web by smartphone and square 2D codes. Your key to countless new clients. Take your code and out it on business catds, ads, thank you cards. Etc etc. the list goes on and on.

People spend more time on the web through their smart phone. You need a mobile web page. A simple clean mobile web that will take clients and potential clients to where you want them to go… Friend you on facebook, follow you on twitter, book online, watch some youtube video, or even click to activate your phone and call you.

This is the way to go. This is what you need to stay infront of the technology. There is a need… And I have the knowledge.

Which age group scans Codes most frequently? Although people across all different age groups are using Codes, people ages 35-44 are scanning Codes the most.

Does gender influence who scans Codes?  The Mobio study shows that 64% of Codes were scanned by women-wow!

Which smartphone platform scans more Codes?  68% iPhone compared to 26% Android

Growth? Perhaps the most impressive statistic is that both studies show a 1,200% growth in the scanning of Codes over just the last 6 months of 2010
